The beautifully restored machiya exudes charm, with stylish decor that bridges the traditional and the eclectic, coupled with modern and spacious bathrooms. Breakfast options-both Japanese and Western-are excellent, elevating the morning experience.
The location is a bit remote from main attractions like Nijo Castle, which may require a decent trek to reach, especially if you want to explore more. The Standard Twin Room, while inviting, could use better air conditioning for the warmer nights.

My rollercoaster experience!
The hosts' genuine hospitality standout-Tome's very nice warmth and advice transformed our stay. Spacious, comfortable rooms, coupled with delicious breakfast served artfully, reminded me of a heartfelt embrace each morning!
The location, while serene, presented challenges with public transport-navigating was time-consuming at times. The room, although cozy, lacked air conditioning effectiveness was good, alas.

The hosts were really nice, helping us with restaurant bookings and bus routes. We loved the local dinner map shared by Tome and the private bar, nice after a busy day in the city. We biked around and visited the Imperial Palace and Gion. Totally worth it!
Just a heads up, the ryokan is a bit off the main tourist track, so it took some time navigating public transport.

The experience includes a fine design throughout the hotel, with handpicked vintage Yukata and antique dishes that enhanced the atmosphere. The unique hidden bar created an intimate and nice setting, while the recommendations for local dining and attractions turned our casual exploration into a personalized adventure. The location felt somewhat remote, requiring extra effort for public transport, and the breakfast options, although delicious, could have benefited from more variety. Air conditioning was also less effective than expected, leaving us a bit too warm at times.
